I've just moved home so I've been rather lax about keeping on top of online things around all the chaos of packing boxes.

The first bird is indeed a Nightjar, but the second isn't a bird of prey (well, it does prey on other birds, but not in the usual sense) it is in fact... a Cuckoo! It's easy to see why one might think that though - supposedly Cuckoos deliberately mimic the appearance of hawks and other raptors (with that distinctive barred underside) to scare smaller birds away from their nests. This then gives the Cuckoo access to the nest so it can lay its own egg in there. You can see the whole images for all my pieces for The Picture Show here (though they will be put on the blog very soon):

http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.315176939412.148626.311045684412&type=1

Great to hear your thoughts, thank you for taking the time to comment :)Emma Cowleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12052823405658990788noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1971901340359355074.post-87611944463144183872012-07-25T20:44:25.966+01:002012-07-25T20:44:25.966+01:00Hi Emma, just spotted you as a follower on Twitter...Hi Emma, just spotted you as a follower on Twitter and thought I'd drop by! I love bird quizzes as i love birds - the first is definitely a nightjar; the second a bird of prey, I'm plumping for male sparrowhawk! Good luck with the show, and thanks for following. Right, off to your website now... sorry, spotted a glaring typo!Tim Warneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14387916452475313204noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1971901340359355074.post-58949593341988850512012-07-23T12:45:47.865+01:002012-07-23T12:45:47.865+01:00Thank you so much, your comments are always a plea...Thank you so much, your comments are always a pleasure to read :)Emma Cowleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12052823405658990788noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1971901340359355074.post-22594332054287613942012-07-09T08:05:15.812+01:002012-07-09T08:05:15.812+01:00I can't say I know that many birds to be able ...I can't say I know that many birds to be able to name these, but congrats on the upcoming show!
